Privacy Notice
YE Simupreneur is used in Youth Entrepreneurs CT's on-site program for grades 6–12. This notice explains what information it handles, why, and who receives it.
Who creates accounts
There is no public sign-up. Student and YE instructor accounts are created only by a Youth Entrepreneurs CT program administrator, or by a YE instructor whom a program administrator has allowed to manage students in a specific classroom.
Parent or guardian consent
Students under 13 cannot use YE Simupreneur until a program administrator records a parent or guardian's consent. We store the consent status, how it was given, the date, the parent or guardian's name and which program administrator recorded it. Only a program administrator can record or withdraw consent. When consent is pending or withdrawn, our servers block the student's company, business weeks, classroom lessons and labs, reflections, feedback, notifications and AI Coach right away, including for a student who is already signed in. The student's records are kept, not deleted.
What we collect and why
To run the program we collect: name, grade and a school email or username (to sign in); the student's simulated company — name, logo, choices and results (for the business simulation); lesson progress, answers to classroom and AI-built lab activities and written reflections (for learning and grading); YE instructor feedback and in-app notifications (to support the student). The student's device remembers only the chosen language and sound setting. We do not collect home addresses, phone numbers, photos of students or payment information.
Who can see it
Students see only their own work. YE instructors see only the classrooms, students and tools a program administrator has given them. Program administrators manage the program. Student information is never sold or used for advertising.
Services that receive information
YE Simupreneur runs on a cloud hosting and database provider, which stores the records above and keeps technical logs and basic visit statistics (such as page views). When the AI Coach is used, the student's messages and a short summary of their lesson or simulated company are sent to an AI service provider to create replies. When the AI Lab Builder is used, the YE instructor's lab request is sent to the same provider. We do not use advertising trackers.
AI Coach
The AI Coach is off unless a program administrator turns it on. What YE Simupreneur stores: nothing — conversations are not written to our database or to the student's device, and the chat disappears when the page is closed or reloaded. What we know about the provider: messages pass through our AI service provider, which may keep request records under its own policies; we have not been able to verify how long. Students should not share personal information with the coach.
Export and deletion
Program administrators can download all of a student's records and permanently delete the account. Deletion removes the sign-in record, company and simulation data, lesson progress, activity and AI-built lab answers, reflections, feedback, badges, notifications and consent record from active use right away. YE Simupreneur stores no separate uploaded files; company logos are saved inside the database and are deleted with the company. Copies in our hosting provider's backups and technical logs are not removed right away; they expire on the provider's own schedule, which we have not independently verified. Accounts inactive for one year are flagged for a program administrator to review.
Backups
Our hosting provider manages database backups. We have not independently verified their schedule, what they cover or how long they are kept, so we make no promise about them. Program administrators can download a full copy of all records at any time.
Questions or requests
Families can ask their YE instructor or a Youth Entrepreneurs CT program administrator to see, correct or delete a student's information.
